Located in southern St. Mary's County, where the Potomac River meets the Chesapeake Bay, this park was once the site of a Civil War prison for Confederate soldiers. Today, it offers great fishing from a 710-foot fishing pier. Other amenities include boat launch, beaches, hiking trails, picnic areas and camping. The Civil War Museum/Maryland Nature Center opens seasonally and offers nature programs and Civil War history discussions. A Timeless Adventure for all!

importantInformation ALCOHOL POLICY: The consumption or possession of an open container of an alcoholic beverage will be prohibited in all state park areas with the exception of interior areas of full-service cabins and motorhomes. Permits may be issued upon request by the Park Manager for special events operating under a use agreement. Alcohol permits will only be issued through a reservation for a designated shelter, or other approved facility. A $35 fee will be charged for each alcohol permit and must be obtained 1-day out prior to arrival. Permits may be revoked for cause by Park Manager, their designee or a Natural Resources Police Officer. Internet shelter reservations requiring an alcohol permit will need to contact the Call Center at 1-888-432-2267, Mon-Fri, 8 am - 8 pm to make your reservation.
